Rush Limbaugh Doesn't Use Computers

Apparently, Limbaugh does not use a computer or just doesn't know what the hell a PDF is. The fact that he uses a qualifier in order to make the false allegation on his show is indicative of the hypocrisy that he embodies.  Read More »

Idiot of the Day: Steve Austria

"When (President Franklin) Roosevelt did this, he put our country into a Great Depression. He tried to borrow and spend, he tried to use the Keynesian approach, and our country ended up in a Great Depression. That's just history." - Steve Austria on Economic Stimulus Plan

Darrel Rowland of the Columbus Dispatch adds, "Most historians date the beginning of the Great Depression at or shortly after the stock-market crash of 1929; Roosevelt took office in 1933."  Read More »

Explaining the GOP Stimulus Plan Hack Attack

So, you want to know why the heck Republicans took a backseat and then complained about the structure of the Economic Stimulus Plan even after Democrats compromised on infrastructure to include tax cuts?

It is elementary my dear ... Republicans wanted to humilate President Barack Obama on his first major piece of legislation. Their strategy meant that a sound defeat of anything touted by the Democrats would remind Americans that they still had some clout even after suffering losses in the last two election years.

The other objective makes sense once you entertain why we have to be passing an Economic Stimulus Plan in the first place. How else do you fix the last 8 years? You make the next 4 even worse!  Read More »

Them's Fighting Words

So then you get the argument, well, this is not a stimulus bill, this is a spending bill. What do you think a stimulus is? That’s the whole point. No, seriously. That’s the point.” - President Obama on Stimulus Plan  Read More »

Who is Playing Partisan Politics?

There is no debate that an Economic Stimulus Plan is needed to jump-start our Economy on the road to recovery. It is the method that the legislation achieves this goal that is causing delays in Congress.

While, President Obama has promised to create a bipartisan atmosphere in order to create bills not of Democrats or Republicans but for the people … it is Republicans who have turned this into a dog and pony show.

It is the GOP that is continuing the same tradition of the last eight years that has harmed our country. Americans should be outraged that Republicans are playing partisan politics.

President Obama has gone above and beyond to create a bipartisan bill that will stimulate our economy. He has changed the original legislation and asked Democrats to accommodate Republicans not once or twice but five times.  Read More »

You had 8 years!

As the GOP, complains about the Stimulus Plan proposed by the Barack Obama Administration and touted by the Democratic majority in Congress … only one thing comes to mind.

You had eight years. Eight years in which you dominated the Executive branch and six of them in which the entire United States Government was under your control.

What do you have to show for the first decade of this century let alone millennium?

Nothing! In fact, you are responsible for the Economic state that our country is in. You fueled the environment in which corporate crooks like Enron and now Wall Street thrived off.

When we all thought that Enron was one of the worst corporate scams/bankruptcies … we had no clue what 2008 had in stored. Before I go into a tirade about everything the Republicans did to hurt our country, I will remain on the issue at hand; an Economic Stimulus Plan.  Read More »

The Lowdown on the Bush Stimulus Plan

money.gif

Now that it is official and you may be elligibe to recieve a check from Uncle Sam, there leaves one simple economics question. Where is the money coming from? Remember the key phrase, "There is no such thing as a free lunch." Someone has to pay for it at the end of the day. That somebody is of course us. We pay the federal government income taxes every paycheck we recieve and around April we file our taxes and sometimes get a return.

Now how does the Bush stimulus plan affect this scenario and will you end up eating on the long run? Let's assume you belong to the middle income bracket that makes less than $75 per person or less than $150 per couple; you will be entitled to $600 per person. So a married couple without children will recieve $1200 and then add $300 per dependent child. For some of you out there that means you will be seeing a $1500 check for example.

Here's the catch though! When you do file this April your earning for the prior year and your accountant informs you that you are "elligible" for $3000 in rebate, stop yourself and remember that you will need to subtract the $1500 because the government will only send you $1500 (the difference). Think of the stimulus plan as an advance of your normal rebate check.

What if the government gave you to much though? No worries you personally won't have to eat it. "If you received more than what you should have gotten, you will not be penalized,"said Treasury spokesman Andrew DeSouza. "If you were supposed to receive a larger payment than you did, you will get the extra money."

Most people were under the false impression that the stimulus plan was extra money but it is just a mere advance of what you will get this April. Surprise, Surprise, President Bush sure knows how to spin a story.
