The New York Times had an intresting observation on the voters that John McCain was able to capture in the South. More importantly, this looks like trouble for Republicans who seem to be a party of a few and ... how should I say this, not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Adam Nossiter reports, "The Republicans, meanwhile, have “become a Southernized party,” said Mr. Schaller, who teaches at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. “They have completely marginalized themselves to a mostly regional party,” he said, pointing out that nearly half of the current Republican House delegation is now Southern."  Read More »

You just endured a grueling 22-month interview and were offered the job position … you start in late January but there is just one catch; you cannot use your cell phone or email for the next 4 years.

Still want the job? Barack Obama does not seem to mind. I on the other hand would cry.

If you thought the generic application to Starbucks was time consuming then I wouldn’t know exactly how to categorize applying for a cabinet position with Barack Obama’s Administration.

A pain in the ass? Perhaps, but this is the sort of vetting one would expect from someone trying to be, oh I don’t know, the Vice President of the United States.

As a longtime Facebook user, I know its impact on organizing and the power it can manifest if used properly. I have been a member of Facebook ever since it debuted as a college student only social network.

Although, I was disappointed with opening up its registration, now I am grateful because it has allowed individuals from around the world to connect in support of a political/social cause.

If all you were to listen to were talk-radio then you would think getting healthcare in the United States as an immigrant is as easy as 1, 2, 3. They forget to tell you that the same bureaucratic system that fails to insure millions of American citizens does a good job at preventing those that are not documented to be in the United States.

Take for example Antonio Torres, a 19-year old from Arizona that is a legal immigrant from Mexico who was in coma after a car accident last June. Let me repeat, the gentleman was legally allowed to be in the United States, there was nothing illegal about his status.

Well, after learning that the individual was uninsured, the hospital deported him back to Mexico. Get that? The hospital not the U.S. government took it upon themselves to decide the fate of this individual and sent him back to his home country while in a coma and on the brink of death.  Read More »

For the first time in 8 years, the United States leaned to the Democrats in a decisive fashion. Concerns of a one party rule did not deter Americans from giving Democrats power in the House, Senate and Executive branch.

Although Barack Obama did not have an Electoral Landslide it was still an impressive win … perhaps more like an Electoral Mudslide. After crunching the numbers and reviewing the way Americans voted there was an overwhelming shift and it was blue.

One good lesson I learned during college was that I hated over drafting. Banks  rig the system in their favor to screw over their client by selecting a flawed method of applying deposits and withdrawls. Nonetheless, I became better at managing my money and set up security measures so that I would avoid over drafting.

When banks overdraft though . . . it is a different story. Last week Washington Mutual collapsed and it was called the biggest bank failure in American history. JP Morgan Chase stepped in and purchased what remained of WaMu later on in the week.

The next bank to go under is Wachovia with Wells Fargo and Citigroup hovering like vultures ready to pounce when Wachovia finally expires this week. This relieves some pressure off the Federal Government who will not have to step in and bail out yet another corporation.  Read More »

As John McCain attempted to deceive the world by claiming that Barack Obama was responsible for the economic meltdown that occurred a week ago, the American people did not bite. The John McCain stated that Barack Obama had received lobbyist donations from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae but that was proven false. Somehow about 50 years ago, a smart political adviser from the GOP came up with the idea of associating Democrats and tax increases as a if it were a combo meal at your local restaurant. This myth still haunts Democrats and John McCain is trying to deceive people into thinking that Barack Obama will increase taxes.

After having two different conversations, with different people on different days about taxes and Obama, I decided I needed to refresh my knowledge on the subject. This is when I came to the startling discovery that 80% of taxpayers benefit from an Obama tax plan. The other 20% should be voting for McCain if taxes were the sole issue to those voters.
