Sarah Palin states, “"But even more important is that world view that I share with John McCain. That world view that says that America is a nation of exceptionalism. And we are to be that shining city on a hill, as President Reagan so beautifully said, that we are a beacon of hope and that we are unapologetic here. We are not perfect as a nation. But together, we represent a perfect ideal. And that is democracy and tolerance and freedom and equal rights."

The concept of American Exceptionalism is not new and if you are not acquainted with it, it’s okay. It is an idea that students entertain during their political science studies in college.

Cody Talley did a great job describing the finding in the ethics investigation against Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. But, what does this mean for the McCain/Palin ticket and the Election?

How did McCain attempt to spin his way out of this mess? Luckily for us the McCain/Palin camp has released a statement on the ‘Troopergate’ Report. Meg Stapleton issued the following statement:

Yes to all of the above. And that’s it. That’s who she is. Yes rebuplicans, breathe a sigh of relief. *PHEW*…..Oh wait, what’s this? She’s a reformer, a damned, "abusing your political power to fire a former brother-in-law", reformer.

Maverick; a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates — doesn’t seem like she’s that much of a MAVERICK when it comes to the Republican party.

If you did not see the newest skit by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live then stop whatever you are doing and hit play. If you are one of the millions of people that ended up watching it . . . it was hilarious right?

The more I think about the more logical and rational it seems to me why Republicans have sabotaged the bailout bill they claimed we needed to pass as soon as possible.They do not want Sarah Palin to have to debate with Joe Biden and risk shedding the illusion that she is "qualified" to be the next Vice President.

Think about it . . . it makes sense. If last week John McCain attempted to suspend his campaign and the debate because the nation was in an Economic crisis, why would they not attempt a similar approach this week with the VP debate?

It is no secret that John McCain thinks that Sarah Palin is not ready to hold her own with the press let alone a debate. She has only given 3 interviews and held 1 four question-and-answer session.

If last week the economy may have collapsed if the bailout plan was not drafted what will it do now that it not pass?

Sometimes I think I am dreaming this McCain-Palin ticket and I pinch myself so that I may wake up. But, then interviews such as the Katie Couric one with Sarah Palin, make me wish I was dreaming because this is sad.

Sarah Palin has a 50/50 chance of becoming our next Vice President folks. She has a 1 in 4 chance of becoming the President and if she is “selected” in November, she is a heartbeat away from becoming the President of the United States.

It has been 4 weeks since John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. It has also been 4 weeks since the McCain camp has even allowed the media any interaction with Palin. Sure, you can give her the Charlie Gibson interview but the Sean Hannity soirée was a joke.

Today the media decided to fight back the only way they could. They denied Palin access to the media she has been denying herself from. The AP claims, “Palin sat down with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. The conversations were private, the pictures public, meant to build her resume for voters concerned about her lack of experience in world affairs.”

One common attribute that John McCain and Sarah Palin seem to share is that they are “mavericks” . . . reformers that will provide the change Washington D.C. needs after 8 years of Republican rule. This claim is a positive characteristic and right wing pundits spin it to distort the reality of the argument.

The media has fallen in line with this assertion created by the McCain-Palin camp. They have also failed to entertain the implications of their claims. Jason Leopold states, “John McCain trotted out Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, his campaign and much of the U.S. news media depicted the Alaska governor as an ethics “reformer” whose meteoric political rise came from her confronting corruption within her own state Republican Party.”
