Hot off the presses folks is this mailer from former Houston Mayoral Candidate Roy Morales. In fact, it is soo hot, the ink got on my fingers.

Click on the images to view the mailer in its entirety. Unfortunately, my scanner is not large enough for the mail piece which I will speculate is 11x17. I had to Photoshop paste this together so that you could view it as a whole.

Surprisingly, Gene Locke did not respond to Morales requests and by default it seems that Annise Parker kind of won the endorsement. Actually, consider it more of a non-endorsement endorsement.  Read More »

Who is Roy Morales?

Alright guys over at the Annise Parker, Gene Locke and Peter Brown campaigns ... I know this week has been stressful and it will only get worst but lets all enjoy this 1 minute and 20 second advert at the expense of Roy Morales.

When I first saw this ad ... I thought it was a joke ... sort of like the time when Morales claimed that he would try to bring Walt Disney to the 713 to fill that void and eyesore that sits on 610.  Read More »

Responses to the 21 Questions

Gene Locke, Roy Morales, Annise Parker and Peter Brown by Eschipul

21 Questions for the Houston Mayoral Candidates was a set a questions that I composed with the help of some close friends to get to know the next Mayor of the City of Houston.

The questions were short yet insightful as they had the potential to give someone unfamiliar with the candidates an interesting introduction to the next mayor. There is no right or wrong answer to the questions. I was only expecting truthful answers that were prepared by the candidates and not some staff members.  Read More »

Guess Who's Back?

It seems that 10 days flew by fast. It also seems that I missed out both in the local and national political scene.

As I tweeted from my seat on the Houston based airline Continental that I was back in the homeland ... I received a pleasant email from Matt with the Peter Brown campaign.

He welcomed me back from Mexico and he had a special delivery for me. It seems that Peter Brown had answered the 21 Questions that I emailed and sent via first class mail back in late June.

I was impressed by Matt's ability to contact me within minutes of arriving back in the states. It means that he uses social media to its potential since I only disclosed my arrival back via Twitter.

Kudos to Matt and the Peter Brown campaign for being proactive and contacting me regarding the 21 Questions so fast.  Read More »

21 Questions for the Houston Mayoral Candidates

I took it upon myself this last week to draft up a list of 21 Questions that I would like to see Annise Parker, Gene Locke, Peter Brown and Roy Morales answer. The questions are not tough and in fact should be fun for the candidates to respond to.

More than anything I wanted to engage with the candidates at a level that the mainstream press or media fail to. This is like an interview … but at the talk show level … nothing like Meet the Press.

I set the deadline for July 13, 2009 … just after my return from visiting Mexico City and Oaxaca. I honestly expect the candidates to formulate some responses and if they fail to answer these simple questions … well I will be disappointed to say the least.

I have embedded the questions for all to see … and so that all candidates understand that I have sent the same questions to all of them. I sent the questions via electronic mail and first class mail.  Read More »

Reflection on the Houston Mayoral Forum

Most of you will just want to know … who won last night? Well, I will start off with just that and then explain how I arrived at that reason. The answer is not that black and white.

In all honesty I believe Gene Locke and Annise Parker performed well tonight. Perhaps, Locke had a home field advantage … at times asserting himself with a confidence that did not seem to radiate from the other candidates.

Parker must be the default front-runner because Peter Brown and Roy Morales went after her aggressively.   She held her ground and sold the audience in her ability to manage the city. Parker was able to transcend racial boundaries and connect with the audience as well.  Read More »
