Barack the Magic Negro

Whoever imagined that racism would expire once Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American President of the United States was dead wrong.

Race issues will continue to exist as long as there are people with different hues of color and ignorance is prevalent in that society. Imagine how I would have reacted once I found out about a candidate for the Republican National Committee chairmanship's justification for a blatant racist act.

Republicans Block Auto Industry Bailout

Even thought the Auto Industry Bailout passed in the House, it was nothing but a circus where the big boys hang out. Republican Senators displayed a dog and pony show to front their opposition to the bill.

They employed this tactic for the mere purpose so they could claim that they were against the bill. They will pass a revised version of this bill because if all hell breaks loose they do not want to be on the short end of the stick.

The Associated Press claims, “Republicans left a closed-door meeting where they balked at giving the automakers federal aid unless their powerful union agreed to slash wages next year to bring them into line with those of Japanese carmakers.”  Read More »

On those Southern Red States

The New York Times had an intresting observation on the voters that John McCain was able to capture in the South. More importantly, this looks like trouble for Republicans who seem to be a party of a few and ... how should I say this, not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Adam Nossiter reports, "The Republicans, meanwhile, have “become a Southernized party,” said Mr. Schaller, who teaches at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. “They have completely marginalized themselves to a mostly regional party,” he said, pointing out that nearly half of the current Republican House delegation is now Southern."  Read More »

Paradise Lost

The Self-Destruction of the Republican Party

It had not even been one day and the Republican Party is amidst a self-destruction path. The bloodbath will begin, heads will roll and scapegoats will receive no mercy from a devastated and upset party.

Who is to blame? The GOP is like an out of control mob ready to pick up the first victim and crucify them to warn others of what they are capable.
Is President Bush at fault or perhaps Senator John McCain … it is easier to scapegoat a “Wassila Hillbilly” like Sarah Palin as long as at the end of the day someone’s blood spills.  Read More »

Revisiting my Predictions of the Election

How did I do with my predictions? Not too bad ... I speculated that the Election would be over by 11 EST/10 CST and I was right. When I heard the crowds cheering and boasting that Barack Obama had become our next President ... I quickly whipped out my iPhone to confirm the time and it was 10 on the dot. This also implies that my prediction that Obama would win was correct.

Now on the other races, I came close. For example: I thought the Electoral vote would be 352 for Obama and 186 for McCain. It looks more like Obama won 364 and McCain 173. I was wrong about the path that Obama would take in winning this election.  Read More »

My Prediction of Election 2008

My prediction for this election is conservative and cynical at times. I do not expect a landslide as some other folks do but that is probably because I am wary. Nonetheless, here is my speculation of what will happen.

Electoral College

  1. Barack Obama – 352
  2. John McCain – 186

Popular Vote

  1. Barack Obama – 51%
  2. John McCain – 48%
  3. Other – 1%

Senate Results

  1. Democrats – 57 (+9)
  2. Republicans – 40 (-9)
  3. Independents - 2

House Results

  1. Democrats – 257 (+21)
  2. Republicans – 178 (-20)

It will all be over at 11 EST/10 pm CST and the surprise for the night Missouri will go Blue and thus not break their 100+ year streak of selecting the President. Depending on voter turnout, the South will dangerously lean close to the Left and Democrats will entertain it as a battleground worth fighting.

Rebuilding the GOP

The GOP is not waiting around for the election to be over before they commence on the rebranding process that Republicans dearly need in a post Bush era. There is no question that the party needs to reform, the debate occurs on how they will achieve it and what path the party will take.

The Wall Street Journal entertains the concept and offers their opinion:  Read More »

The Hate in the PA

There is only 1 week left before this political circus is over but this next week will seem like an eternity. A week ago I spoke about how this home stretch would get nasty.

The hate has started in disproportional numbers. As the race heats up in battle ground states such as Nevada or Pennsylvania, the ignorant portions of our population make their way out of the woodwork.

In this YouTube clip, you get an idea of the venom that some McCain/Palin supporters walk around with. It is amazing that there are still individuals that are racist in 2008.

One individual claimed "I do not want to sound racist here, but I don't want a black man running my country."

I am grateful that someone decided to film these events and share it with the online community. If America appears this divided, how do we rectify it? What about the racism ... how do we combat that as well?  Read More »
