Grad Students Get the Shaft

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower

In a game of chicken, the more radical side usually wins. This was the case in our debt-ceiling fiasco that has ended and a crisis avoided. The radical right also known as the Tea Party loonies were prepared for Armageddon. Who can blame them? They hate paying for your kids going to school. They hate [...]

Enjoy the Rich, Soak the Rest

Rick Perry brags about Texas!

Tory Gattis offered interesting commentary on a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed titled, “Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich.”

The opinion piece’s main assertion is that high taxes states have suffered from a mass relocation to no-income tax states such as our own Texas. Gattis adds, “Texas created more new jobs in 2008 than all other 49 states combined.”

Please, Help!

What a touching moment yet at the same time saddening. If Ms. Hughes is on a wait list that would take 2 years to provide assitance … something is obviously wrong. As we bailout those on the top we must not forget about those on the bottom.

Explaining the GOP Stimulus Plan Hack Attack

So, you want to know why the heck Republicans took a backseat and then complained about the structure of the Economic Stimulus Plan even after Democrats compromised on infrastructure to include tax cuts?

It is elementary my dear … Republicans wanted to humilate President Barack Obama on his first major piece of legislation. Their strategy meant that a sound defeat of anything touted by the Democrats would remind Americans that they still had some clout even after suffering losses in the last two election years.

The other objective makes sense once you entertain why we have to be passing an Economic Stimulus Plan in the first place. How else do you fix the last 8 years? You make the next 4 even worse!
