A Brief History of Easter
What do rabbits, bunnies, and eggs have to do with Easter, let alone Jesus and Christianity?
Rabbits and/or bunnies and eggs are symbols of fertility and new life. These metaphors do not have an actual connection to Jesus or Christianity unless one entertains the history of the Easter holiday. Easter is a Pagan holiday celebrating the new life of spring after a long, dark, and cold winter. The etymology of the word Easter is derived from the name of the Fertility Goddess, Ishtar or Austron.
