Unfortunately, I was in Mexico on vacation with Becky when State Representative Armando Walle (D-Houston) held a grand opening of his House District 140 Houston office last Saturday, July 11, 2009.

Close to 200 folks showed up to support and give a warm welcome to the first term Texas House of Representative. My U.S. Congressman Gene Green was on hand to welcome Walle who was recently selected by the Women’s Health Caucus as “Freshman of the Year” this last legislative session.

Armando Walle may be serving his first term in the Texas House of Representatives but that does not mean that he is sitting on the sidelines. Honored with the distinction of “Freshman of the Year” by the Women’s Health Caucus, Walle was able to sneak two bills by the veto-happy Republican Governor Rick Perry.

House Bill 1633 and 2113 will take effect on September 1, 2009 and serve as a major accomplishment for Walle who represents House District 140, located in Houston.
