United State of Pop 2008 (Viva La Pop)

Barack the Magic Negro

Whoever imagined that racism would expire once Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American President of the United States was dead wrong.

Race issues will continue to exist as long as there are people with different hues of color and ignorance is prevalent in that society. Imagine how I would have reacted once I found out about a candidate for the Republican National Committee chairmanship's justification for a blatant racist act.

Patrol the Border from Your Bedroom!

It seems that tin-foil wearing conspiracy theorist will have a field day telling everyone how we are on the path to a Big Brother state and how can I blame them?

The Houston Chronicle shed light into “a state-funded Web site that allows people to monitor footage from surveillance cameras along the Texas border.”

The website went live about 1 month ago and boasts over 21,000 “virtual deputies” while getting over 5 million hits. The program allows anyone with an Internet connection and time to kill ... the ability to monitor 13 cameras for suspicious activity along the southern Texas border with Mexico.  Read More »

How to Steal $700 Billion in 3 Steps?

If you want to be rich, take notes ... like any bank robbery, you must plan it and most importantly execute it with little mistakes.

First, you want to be a bank, preferably in the United States. Second, you want to start giving away all your money so that the Government has to step in to give you some more money because you messed up pretty bad the first time around. Finally, take the money and when anyone comes around snooping around asking questions about what you did with the money ... plead the fifth.

Pretty simple, right?

The Impact of YouTube on Elections

I entertained the impact that the Internet but in particular YouTube had in the last Presidential Election and it seems that I was not the only to notice. It seems President Bush was observant and realized that YouTube is a force not to be reckoned with.

President Bush claims, “I am the very last President not to really have to worry about YouTube" while campaigning for the White House.”

In an interview with RealClearPolitics he discussed “the role the Internet and new media played in the November 4th elections.”  Read More »

Obama and Warren Sitting in a Tree ...

Listen my Liberal ... Progressive friends that are outraged about Barack Obama asking Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration ... Take a Chill Pill!

Please, your reaction to what Obama has been doing these past few weeks is shameful and not representative of true Progressive values. We are the party of understanding, empathy, compromise and most important, open-minded thinking ... willing to entertain any issue as rational people.

It is sad to see the reactions of some in the blogosphere … the ravage outrage, even before Obama has taken his oath, is depressing. This is the type of reaction that I would expect from the other side … since their party is known to be close-minded.  Read More »

Change We Can Believe In

Critics and cynics doubt that Barack Obama will truly bring change to Washington, and who can blame them. After 8 years of the Bush shenanigans, one would think that the next administration would take some notes and follow in line.

Well, it seems that Obama is heading down the path of a transparent, open government by the people ... for the people. He asked Americans regardless of political affiliation to chime in on their concerns and questions. The transition team has responded to some of the Open for Questions campaign inquiries.

  • Q: "Will you lift the ban on Stem Cell research in your first 100 days in office?" James_M, Nashville, TN
  • A: President-elect Obama is a strong supporter of Federal funding for responsible stem cell research and he has pledged to reverse President Bush's restrictions.

Mobile Phone Voting in 2011

It seems that if we can get more people to vote via their cell phone for American Idol, the United States Government should listen to their citizens and provide them with alternative methods for participating in elections.

Estonia, a small country in Eastern Europe, is setting the bar by allowing their citizens to vote via their cell phone. This is not the first time that Estonia has employed the latest technology to conduct elections.

Last year, they organized and pulled off a successful election with some participants voting via their computers. Thus, it would make sense why they are pursuing a cell phone based voting election in 2011.

How will it work? Is it safe? Won’t there be rampant voter fraud? How can they do this?  Read More »
