Come Clean Perry!
Perhaps, Rick Perry has learned a thing or two about being a career politician. His Washington style political approach puts some long time congress-members to shame.
Texas Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Bill White has pounced on some of the shenanigans that Perry has involved himself in. The White campaign notes, "Rick Perry recently asked reporters to use a dictionary to look up the definition of the phrase ‘act of god. Perhaps they should also look up the definition of kickback."
Oh snap! Them are some fighting words! It seems that Perry may have use the Texas Enterprise Fund to provide "kickbacks" to friends and supports ergo Peter M. Holt of Caterpillar Inc.
The Houston Chronicle reports, "The alleged kickback, the White campaign charges, came in the form of an $8.5 million subsidy to Caterpillar Inc. from the Texas Enterprise Fund, created by the Texas Legislature at Perry’s behest in 2003."
The Perry team responded by claiming that it was "a sign of desperation" from the White campaign. Bill White is seeking an independent audit.
This allegation comes less than a month after Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) released a report on the nation’s most incompetent and unethical governors.
Guess who made the list? You betcha … Rick Perry. CREW exposes and claims that Perry:
- Allegedly disregarded campaign finance laws and aided a business that was especially generous to his campaign.
- Refused to operate transparently, and has blocked access to information related to a death penalty case.
- Rejected federal stimulus funds in a manner that appeared to put partisan politics ahead of the interests of the citizens of Texas.
- Has perpetuated the revolving door between government and special interests.
- Accepted travel and campaign donations from a business that received benefits from his official actions.
- Used campaign funds for a personal trip with questionable relevance to his campaign for office.
What do you have to hide? An independent audit will either A) Exonerate or B) Incriminate your actions. Your work for the State of Texas … not your political and business buddies. You owe Texans an explanation … so come clean Perry.
