Peter Brown is Winning the Policy Campaign
During the last 3 months as I have followed each of the candidates from forum to forum and private gathering to fundraisers … there is one thing I have noticed … they have the right ideas to make Houston great.
Yet, at the same time the situation that I encountered when it came to releasing how the candidates intended to achieve a promise was rather weak in substance.
Only Peter Brown stepped up to the plate and would release a detailed (as detail as you can get of course) plan on how he intended to achieve some of his goals. From updating infrastructure to explaining how to address our flooding issue … there always seemed to be a saturation of policy initiatives from the campaign.
I have to give credit to Annise Parker as well … she released her own Email-Blasts (newsletters) explaining how she intended to achieve some of the goals she has for Houston. Unfortunately, it was light reading compared to Peter Brown’s plans.
And then there was Gene Locke who had touted many ways he will improve Houston but at the end of the day all you heard were …. [crickets] … as you waited to see a plan.
That is until yesterday when he released a 7-Point Plan to Keep Houston Safe. Other than the 7-hour hiccup in which the 7-Point Plan was no where to be found … someone forgot to link the PDF for my viewing pleasure … the campaign redeemed themselves by redesigning the page and linking to the PDF. I will review the plan later on today and offer my perspective.
So … it was quite easy to figure out who has the upper hand in Policy … while Gene Locke may have a Mobile Campaign and Annise Parker has the Social Media Campaign on lock … Peter Brown has a Policy Campaign!
