$1 a Gallon Gasoline in My Lifetime?

If you told me 4 months ago that gasoline could drop as low as $1, I would called you crazy. I would have even gambled on it reaching $5 before it ever went back to $1. Well, it seems with the steady drop of crude oil, gasoline may once again reach pre-Bush levels of $1.

In fact, it is speculated that gasoline may go for 90 cents by January. In a time where everyone else should be ecstatic about the drop, that is not the case. Economic times are so hard that people cannot afford to do anything with their $1 a gallon gasoline.

Alan Stewart Carl adds, “Fewer people working means less driving in specific and less economic activity in general. That’s hardly a welcome solution to high gas prices. For many Americans, less pain at the pump is not going to offset the pain of job loss.”

My concern is that American citizens will become complacent with their cheap gas once again like they did in the mid-70s. I want people to remember how much it sucks to be dependent on foreign oil.

I hope Barack Obama will continue to push his agenda to aid America off their dependence to the archaic methods of energy. Even though our current energy resource may be cheap once again, that does not mean that we should stop seeking for better, greener alternative forms of energy.

If gasoline drops as low as 75 cents would you care if the U.S. pursues alternative forms of energy? How high does gasoline have to go once again for you to complain? Intresting enough ... I am not hearing a lot on the right chant "Drill, Baby, Drill" anymore, how about you?
